When travelling from town this week, I was amazed to hear two women speaking about how the effects of the planet Mercury being in retrograde had brought them four weeks of ‘brain fog’ for the second time this year. Their belief was so strong that they had experienced brain fog for the whole period, until Mercury eventually moved and released them. What was more, there was still a third period of Mercury in retrograde to come this year.
Now since I was a teenager I have been very curious about the effects, the moon, the sun and planets have on our world and the population and accept everyone has the right to different beliefs; however, I also believe if a percentage of the world’s population allowed themselves to have brain fog, due to the position of the planets, for up to 12 weeks in a year, there would be a considerable effect.
The subconscious mind is a powerful thing; it is there to protect us and part of its protection is to ensure that we don’t feel silly. Have ever been in the situation where you say “I have lost my keys” you have looked in the house for ages and not found them? This is because the subconscious mind doesn’t want you to feel stupid and so it will not allow you to find them. Even if they are in the drawer you have looked in, they will not be visible to you. You take your spare set and when you return to the house, there are the keys where they should be!
So imagine holding a firm belief that you are going to have ‘brain fog’ because Mercury is in retrograde. The day it goes into retrograde you wake up and there is little chance that your subconscious will permit you to be bright, clear and focussed for the day. So, you wake up and you have ‘brain fog,’ this affirms your belief that it is because the planet is in retrograde and the fog continues for the day. No matter what you do to shift it, cups of coffee, tea, carbs, fresh air the brain fog remains, because your subconscious mind holds the deep belief it should be so. What’s more, it feeds into your belief that the planets are in control of you and tomorrow, the next day and the weeks after the belief embeds further and it is unlikely that you will have a clear day, until the planets move.
If you find this resonates with you and your beliefs could be affecting your wellbeing, then making simple changes to your own thought processes will help you release your ‘fog’ or whatever is holding you back from enjoying your day or life.
You can still hold your core beliefs, but by choosing to change your mindset and providing your subconscious with new patterns of information, you can instantly make a change.
Try repeating some new phrases for example:
“I used to be affected by (brain fog or whatever your belief is), but I have found a way of overcoming that.”
“I understand this can happen to some people, but it doesn’t affect me.”
If you take the time to say new, positive affirmations, your brain will create new pathways and improve your wellbeing.
Another proven practice to improve wellbeing, is to visualise yourself enjoying tomorrow as your best self, clear-minded, bright, alert and confident (or however you would like to be) and do this just before going to sleep. By running a film of this through your mind a few times a night, it will embed the possibilities and preferences in your subconscious mind for when you awake.
