You can have the best plan and the motivation to change and improve, but if you haven't instructed your subconscious mind and embedded the new desired pathway, it is probable that you will revert back to your same old patterns. This is because our minds work in habitual, neural pathways, and we find comfort in familiar patterns, even if they are destructive.
Drive and willpower are initiated by the conscious mind, but if your subconscious is influenced by old, outdated beliefs, or a lack of self-worth, they can out-way your conscious mind, reducing potential for growth; and so following an initial period of motivation, it is easy to slip backwards to a place of familiarity or comfort.
A few recognisable patterns include:
• Staying in the same job, or not stepping forward due to lack of self-worth, so being overlooked for promotion
• Keeping a business small when there is potential for growth
• Emotional overeating or unhealthy eating, resulting in weight gain or retention
• Re-entering familiar toxic relationships
• Under-exercising and being generally unfit
Working with a hypnotherapist enables you to overcome negative beliefs, focus the change you desire and embed new positive neural pathways, because hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind to reset, initiate, and embed change, so creating a new normal.
